Bioflavonoids and the Capillary

نویسنده

چکیده

Part I (Laboratory Studies) recounts the biochemistry and some of the physiological activities of the bioflavonoids. These compounds appear to be involved in the increased venular fragility of choline and vitamin C deficiencies anld in such diverse processes as: the reproductive cycle of certain algae; the biochemical activities of ascorbic acid, hyaluronidase, histamine, and epinephrine; the breeding difficulties of sheep grazed on isoflavonecontaining feeds; and the hemorrhagic complications of dicoumarol therapy. A general section on the structure of the capillary wall by Dr. Zweifach is of particular interest.

Structurally Diverse Bioflavonoids as Potential Source of Antimalarial Lead Molecules

In this article, a review on bioactive flavonoids that are abundant in medicinal and functional food (dietary) plants has been made, with special reference to antimalarial flavonoid molecules. Flavonoids have been found to exist in plants/plant medicines with a wide structural diversity consisting of numerous polyphenolic compounds and having well defined molecular target specificity. These phy...

3D-QSAR modelling dataset of bioflavonoids for predicting the potential modulatory effect on P-glycoprotein activity

The data is obtained from exploring the modulatory activities of bioflavonoids on P-glycoprotein function by ligand-based approaches. Multivariate Linear-QSAR models for predicting the induced/inhibitory activities of the flavonoids were created. Molecular descriptors were initially used as independent variables and a dependent variable was expressed as pFAR. The variables were then used in MLR...

Hemorrhoids and varicose veins: a review of treatment options.

Hemorrhoids and varicose veins are common conditions seen by general practitioners. Both conditions have several treatment modalities for the physician to choose from. Varicose veins are treated with mechanical compression stockings. There are several over-the-counter topical agents available for hemorrhoids. Conservative therapies for both conditions include diet, lifestyle changes, and hydrot...

Dietary bioflavonoids induce apoptosis in human leukemia cells.

Dietary bioflavonoids are secondary metabolites of plants that are known to have a variety of bio-effects, including anti-cancer activity. In this study, we examined the effects of flavonoids on the growth of human leukemia cells and found that certain flavonoids induce apoptosis in a variety of human leukemia cells. The apoptosis induced by bioflavonoids was dose-dependent and was accompanied ...
